No doubt there are many more that don’t come to mind right now.

I’m fascinated by cinematography – especially early film making but also the craft itself. The use of lighting, layout, setting is amazing. In silent films, the ability of the actors to act using their body and facial expressions are an unmatchable art that isn’t found in modern movies.

One of the main reasons I fell in love with Garbo – she was “the face”. There is a clip in one of her films that lasts less than 2 minutes and I’ve counted over 67 facial expressions she was able to do to convey a complete story in that short time frame. There are in fact  more than 67 but I keep losing count every time I watch it. Some are so subtle but quintessential Garbo.
