Outreach ministry to the disabled community needs to focus on inclusion on the local level of accessibility and inclusion in congregations. Outreach ministry to disabled people and their families cannot be confined within the limits of the walls of a Church building. Jesus told us to go forth to the people, to preach the Gospel, and to live the Gospel. He never added any exceptions, instead He eliminated exceptions and so too should all Christian believers do the same. Inclusion must include actively sharing the Gospel, assisting disabled people in their daily living, uplifting them, empowering them, and acknowledging their dignity and self-worth as fellow human beings, made in the image of God, who all are equally Christian brothers and sisters.
Christian outreach on a local level is essential for building inclusion. While it is a slow process, the Church has seen progress and throughout the world, disabled leaders are emerging. Disabled clergy, teachers, and theologians are breaking through centuries old barriers.
