Inclusion in the Church – Part 17

As the Gospel message is not often readily accessible to disabled people who earnestly seek to learn it, they may turn to organizations and non-traditional Christian communities such as Jehovah’s Witness and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have created an active ministry dedicated to bringing the Gospel to disabled people. Both communities are active in door-to-door missionary work. The mainline Church does not generally engage in door-to-door ministry, their outreach ministries to the disabled community are non-existent or fail to thrive. The “all are welcome” signs that local Churches include on their front lawns are well-meaning, but if there is no ramp or accessibility within the Church, the unspoken message on the sign means “all are welcome except those with disabilities.”
